Commissioning Mass for pilgrims!

20130713 Darwin WYD Pilgrims 3787

My name is Samantha de Moor and I am one of the pilgrims heading off to World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro. I am a science teacher at O’Loughlin Catholic College and acting head of science. I am looking forward to the experience of WYD. With only two more sleeps to go the Darwin pilgrimites met up for a retreat at the Cathedral. It was very fulfilling, discussing the paths our lives have taken and reflecting on where these paths may take us in the future.

After the retreat Bishop Eugene led us in a Commissioning Mass so that we may go out as pilgrims, understanding what it truly means to us. Each of us received a Tau cross, blessed by Pope Francis to take with us on our spiritual journey. We were joined by the Neo Catechumenate group from our diocese for the Mass. This photo is of all of us with Bishop Eugene after receiving our crosses after the Mass.
