Hello everyone, this is Benita (WYD Pilgrimage Coordinator for the Diocese of Darwin). I am in Warsaw and send my greetings to you from here. I arrived last night with a group of 30+ WYD Pilgrimage Coordinators from around Australia. We will be in Poland for a week together to explore this country, meet with WYD planners, the Australian Embassy, Days in the Diocese hosts and to visit some of the places our pilgrimages will come to. So we will travel to some important sites in the life of Saint John Paul the Great – his birthpace and where he grew up and worked. We will visit Auschwitz. We will visit the WYD Offices in Krakow and the many sites for WYD plans in the city.
I will also be making a visit to a little place called Zdzieszowice (can you pronounce that?) where we will go for our Days in the Diocese experience. Fr Jan Swzeda from our Nhulunbuy parish will meet me there, as it is his home parish and he is currently on holidays there – good timing! I will learn of the plans for the program and meet some of the people.
This will be my way of communicating with you all and all of you in the diocese who plan to come. So welcome to this little journey on the way to our pilgrimage next year to this exceptionally beautiful country. I will try and share as much as I can – and there will be lots more to share in our time of preparation for WYD Krakow 2016.
