Months ago when Troy’s parish priest Fr Peter Huan asked him if he was keen to travel to the World Youth Day this July in Poland, he answered passionately – 150%!
However with a lack of financial capacity – there are few full time jobs in Daly River and Troy is currently studying at Nungalinya College – this dream was far from reach.
Then a couple of weeks ago Troy learned that the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference Pilgrim Support Fund had accepted a nomination for him to receive a grant to help him travel to Krakow. This was met with much excitement!
Whilst Troy is very excited about this pilgrimage opportunity, he is a bit nervous at the same time. This will be his first trip overseas and a long time away from his community and family.
Troy will join others from the Diocese of Darwin, Archdiocese of Brisbane and Diocese of Rockhampton travelling in the Footsteps of Saint John Paul II through Poland to Krakow to meet the youth of the world and Pope Francis.
Please keep Troy and the rest of our pilgrims in your prayers during this important time of preparation.
